bit (used as an adverb) (especially British English) rather; to some extent

Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionaries online 2022

Why, hello!

Hello! Bit is a great little word. Every bit is a phrase meaning completely or quintessentially. Every Bit English was created in 2022 by me, Mgr. James H. Gulliver BA (Hons), as the best place for free, good quality, original English lesson resources at the click of a button. All materials are created by me with every bit of passion and experience gained as an English teacher since 2010.

Content

Every Bit English is designed to be as simple to use as possible, with the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in mind. Website navigation has been designed to be quick, reliable, and presentable. The “Latest Lesson” section on the home page has all of that lesson’s PDF worksheets and interactive and listening exercises readily available. As well as a growing lesson collection, Every Bit English has dedicated pages for discussion questions, warm-up activities, and grammar guides.

Levels

The lessons on Every Bit English are divided into three levels, Lower, Middle, and Higher. Lower represents the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels A2+ to B1, Middle represents B1+ to B2, and Higher represents B2+ to C1. According to CEFR guidelines (Council of Europe, 2018, p. 53, para. 1) the B1/B2 independent user for example will be weaker in some areas and stronger in others. As such, the resources are designed for teachers and self-assessment learners to choose the bits that are most useful or relevant to their particular needs.

Materials

The lessons on Every Bit English are based on current news and written from the ground up with care and attention to match the language level described above. The exercises and worksheets are based on the lesson text which is about 200-250 words. The other materials, such as the grammar guides, are self-contained learning resources. All texts, exercises, recordings, and materials are created without any AI bits and bytes. The website and lesson spellings are in British English.

Wait, so you created everything here?

Everything from the programming to the printouts. However, art and phtography are not my fortes, so the lovely license-free illustrations are provided by unDraw and the lesson photos, also license-free, are provided by either Pexels or Unsplash. Hovering the cursor over the photos on the lesson pages will show the direct link to the photographer.
